Hi Rosalind,

While the similarities between the two poets in terms of their prosody have been well-documented, Hopkins never once mentions Donne's name in any of his writings, while he freely mentions (and imitates) both Herbert and Milton. Perhaps Donne's anti-Jesuitical writings hit too close to home for Hopkins. The subject remains a great mystery to me.
