Hello everybody, I've been reading some of the threads and it sounds like you guys really know John Donne Poems.

I would like some help in establishing his context in relation to his poems.  At the moment, I have been having trouble finding context in relation to certain poems.  Aside from "Hymne to God, My God, In my Sicknesse" (1630), other poems appear in collections and i am finding it difficult to pinpoint exact dates but I am pretty sure with these ones.  For "The Sunne Rising", I have found 1611 and Holy Sonnets being 1618 such as "Death Be not proud" but "If Poysonous Mineralls" is eluding me.  Also, could someone help me with what was happening to John Donne in these years ebcause biographies on the internet are very obscure about his life in detail, paying more attention to the general idea of his life.

His poems are about eternal salvation, love, death, friendship and repentence.

Thanks in Advance,
Thomas

In Donne,s this poem , ''THE SUN RISING'' ,he is citing the universe of lovers that the silly sun come through the curtons of windows and become the reason of the lover,s disturbance because thier world is hetrogenious than other . Months, hours , years are meaningless for them . In short  in his love poem, he wants to show the thoughts of lovers . But in his holly sonnets  he describes that which life , he has passed , that was  wrong because now he has known the reality that because of his doubtful faith on religion , he did all sins . And when he faces the sickness then he feels the God,s mercy and wants to rependance from God to make  him pure .
He played with so many women . His life,s history is not good . After finding a women , he forgot  his old love because he belived that women are not sincere , that is why in his this poem ''GOE AND CATCHE THE FALLING STAR'' , he says that no body can catch the falling star, same like this nobody can find the fair women even he travel day and night to the whole world and even his age reach to 90 , he cannot find the sincere women . Acrually that is his own fault that he could not bear only one women for whole life so he blamed on women that they are not sincere so he tries to find the sincere womenblankstare .

At the last stage of his life he requests to God that he does,nt want to die because he wants to wash his sins , which he has done in his past .His eyes looks on the providence,s mercy .That is why in his all holly sonnets he again and again wants to forgiveness from God because of his unsatisified soul , which is full with sins .

''THAT WAS HAPPENED WITH JOHN DONNE,S LIFE . NOW WHEN YOU WILL READ HIS POEMS THEN YOU  WILL BE UNDERSTAND HIS LIFE. JUST REMEBER THESE CONCEPTS OF HIM BEFORE READING HIS POEMS .''
THANK YOU
REGARDS
ANAM
