Donne's Holy Sonnet 18 ("Show me, dear Christ. . .") displays his concern at the challenge of finding Christ's true denominational "spouse."  I would appreciate being directed to other statements about this same problem as expressed by Donne's contemporaries, whether in poetry or prose.
